Students of the TUM School of Engineering and Design organized a diverse day program and presented four visions for the future use of the unique and currently empty spaces. Speakers at the ceremony included TUM President Thomas F. Hofmann, chairholder Prof. Benedikt Boucsein, supervisor Matthias Faul and Urban Design student Tobias Trübenbacher. In addition to insights into the power station, the adjacent outdoor space was filled with student contributions. The TUM choir and the TUM samba group also participated in the program. The day was wrapped up with an interdisciplinary bar evening with musical performances.
The Background
A new forum was to be created on the Munich campus of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) within the framework of a "Sustainable Living Lab" by students for students. The listed combined heat and power plant on the main campus, which had stood empty for 15 years, was to be converted with the help of an interdisciplinary exchange between industry and science. More than 50 students from various courses of degree programs presented their concepts for the future use of the site to the public at the "Open Day" on July 20, 2023.
