Official start of the 2023 summer semester at TUM
Projects, Study |
For the more than 50,000 students at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), the new summer semester began on Monday. The official kick-off was the lecture on "Technical Mechanics" by Prof. Wolfgang Wall, Chair of Computational Mechanics. The kick-off event was attended by the Bavarian Minister President Dr. Markus Söder, Science Minister Markus Blume and TUM President Prof. Thomas F. Hofmann. The student initiative "Scientific Workgroup for Rocketry and Spaceflight" (WARR) was also part of the event. They showed a live demonstration of LARSS, a mobile, remote-controlled rover that can convert lunar dust into building material.
President Hofmann encouraged students to think of TUM as an "experimental space of unlimited possibilities": "Dive deep into your respective field of study, but don't create silos of thought, instead think outside the box and network with the talents of other disciplines. Get involved in one of our TUM Student Clubs, or start a new one! The depth and breadth of education our students receive at TUM creates the foundation for a successful career."
WARR is the largest student group at TUM and works on ambitious projects related to space. Currently, there is an opportunity for students to become part of the team.
