On the international scientific stage as a student

Leonidas Askianakis, pursuing a double degree in B.Sc. Aerospace and B.Sc. Engineering Science, has been recognized for his outstanding research at the prestigious International Association for the Advancement of Space Safety (IAASS) 2024 conference.

Among more than 300 submissions, Leonidas' paper "Continuous In-Situ and Remote Sun Observation for Space Weather Monitoring and Mitigation of Infrastructure Threats through an Optimized Heliocentric Satellite Constellation" was selected as one of the top five papers. The research presents concepts for a heliocentric satellite constellation, complementing existing NASA and ESA mission designs to the Sun.

The award highlights the innovative approach of his work and his commitment to advancing space technology. As an undergraduate, submitting this monography is a remarkable achievement that underscores the relevance of his research within the global scientific community.
