The Bachelor's degree program 'Geodesy and Geoinformation' at the Technical University of Munich teaches scientific and technical principles for the precise recording, modeling and analysis of geographical data. The course is aimed at people with an interest in technology and mathematics and an enthusiasm for geography and environmental issues.
Students observe, visualize and analyze the earth using innovative measurement methods such as satellite remote sensing, laser scanning and drone recordings. The geodata collected is used to create interactive maps and 3D models - essential tools for planning and decision-making in areas such as environmental and climate research, urban development and disaster management. For example, changes in the earth system can be evaluated, the stability of buildings can be checked or risks due to climate change can be identified at an early stage.
A practical teaching concept with numerous exercises and current research projects promotes not only professional but also social skills, especially teamwork. As an internationally networked metropolis, Munich offers excellent career opportunities in research, industry and administration - both regionally and worldwide.
With this program, TUM opens up future-oriented perspectives in earth observation, geodata analysis and digital environmental modeling.
